Michael R. McShae, Jr., PE

Education

Michael received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from the University of Kansas in 1999.

Professional Organizations

Michael is an active member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) since 2005. He is also a member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society.

Family

Michael and his wife Tracy currently reside in Colorado Springs where they have a love/hate relationship with an 1898 Victorian house on the West Side and are planning on designing and building a new home in the mountains. Michael and Tracy's brothers are also engineers and architects. Michael's brother Matt is an electrical engineer and Tracy's brother Matthew is licensed Architect and her brother Joel is an accomplished Landscape Architect. Michael grew up in Western Kansas farming, ranching, and working concrete and asphalt construction to get through college.

Michael enjoys basketball, golf, poker, fly fishing, backpacking, and road trips. Other interests include the performing arts, playing the piano, landscaping and gardening. Michael and Tracy enjoy traveling, eating out, and entertaining friends and family.

Community Service

Michael has made numerous trips to Kenya, Sudan, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and India since 2002 where he has served with a missionairy and relief organization called New Directions founded by Dr. JL Williams. Michael and Coy recently helped build a sports camp in northern Kenya run by Stakwell Yurimeno which helps promote racial and tribal unity between the pastoral tribes of Kenya. Michael is even an honorary member of the Samburu tribe where he supports many local children and activites through the camp. Michael's current plan is to spend one month a year oversees working on projects for New Directions focusing on economic development, racial harmony, and friendships he has made.

Michael and Tracy financially support and volunteer through local charities and their church. One of Michael's favorite activities is a program called Hoops of Hope, where they play basketball in the USA and Colorado prison system for encouragement and support.

Professional Experience

Michael has 9 years of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical Design and Project Management experience, all of which occurred in Southern Colorado. Michael has been a licensed Professional Engineer since 2006 in which he is currently signing and sealing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical documents and enjoys training others to become licensed themselves.
