Education

Sol received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1967 and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1969. He has been the President of Sol Chavez and Associates, Inc. since its inception in 1979.

Professional Organizations

Sol is an active member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) since 1984 and one of the charter members that founded the chapter. He has served as Chapter President, Historian and many other chairs within ASHRAE. He served on the State Board of Professional Engineers as President from 1993 until 1997. He is also a past president of the local Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) chapter and the local National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). He currently serves the local community as a member of the Board of Review for the Pikes Peak Reagional Building Department.

Family

Sol is married to Eve Tilley-Chavez and they have seven children and three grandchildren between them. Sol's passion lies in fly fishing and he enjoys taking new fisherman and teaching them the ropes. Sol and Eve have both traveled the world and just recently returned from a trip to Peru. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and taking them fishing too!

Community Service

Sol along with his wife, Eve, support the local arts community and have for many years. Eve is president of the Pikes Peak Arts Council and an accomplished theatre director. Sol also has donated time and resourses to local endeavors, most recently the Acacia Park upgrades and the John Zay house.
